Juan Mayí

painter, draftsman and sculptor. Born in San Francisco de Marcoris, Dominican Republic in 1963.
From 1979 to 1985
he follows classes at the «Escuela Nacional de Bellas Artes» in Santo Domingo.
From 1989 to 1994, Juan Mayí studies at the Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Beaux Arts in Paris, France.
He lives and works in France from 1989 to 2000. In 1992 he wins the "Palette d’or" at the International Painting Festival of Cagnes-sur-Mer.
In 2005 he receives the first prize of drawing at the XXII Biennial of Visual Arts in Santo Domingo.
In 2007 he receives the Grand Award of the XXIV Biennial of Visual Arts in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic
He has received over ten awards and honors at the Biennial of Visual Arts in Santo Domingo, have won four consecutive awards, both in drawing and painting.
His works are part of public and private institutions in United States, Europe, Latin America, Central America and the Caribbean.
